Hello and welcome to part 3 of the mindfulness @ Christmas series.
Todays meditation looks at how we react to feel and touch. There are so many different textures / sensations over the christmas period. From Christmas tree needles, to holding a warm mince pie.
However when we are busy we might not always notice how something feels when we hold or touch it.
We will be looking at bringing your awareness to the things you touch today and how they feel to you.
So allow yourself a moment to get comfortable.
Softly close your eyes, let your body relax and become aware of your breath.
Let your shoulders and hips relax, enjoy breathing deeply and slowly.
Bring your awareness to how your breath feels as you breathe in through your nose and when you breathe out through your nose. The change in temperature of the air you breathe in and as you breathe out.
Take a moment to notice how your breathe.
Then gently bring your awareness to your body, what your hands are gently resting on. Notice how your finger tips feel, the palms of your hands feel, the backs of your hands.
Do you notice if the texture is smooth or rough, soft or hard, cold or warm.
Something you may never have thought to be mindful of before when you relax, is now your centre of attention. Take a moment to process what your hands feel.
You might even notice your finger tips rest differently, with some touching more of the surface than others.
Do you notice you begin to feel calmer when you focus on how things feel on your hands. Take a moment today to truly feel the things you touch.
Connect yourself to the calmness of noticing how things feel to you.
Take one more nice deep breath in, and out.
Gently wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Slowly open your eyes to see where your hands have been resting.
