Podcast Script: Lost

Music credit: Aube – REMY BOURGEOIS

Hello and welcome to episode 30 of Grounded In Stillness.

Lost – A word that can be used to describe you being physically lost, you can even use it when daydreaming.

We can also associate ‘lost’ with not being present, moving through life so fast you lose who you are and your values.

We can even use the word when we just don’t know what to do.

This meditation is designed to bring you back to the moment, to allow you to pause, to allow everything to melt away, for you to find yourself.

So if there are moments in your life when you feel lost, this visualisation may help bring you back to the now.

I know this one has been helping me a lot recently.

Enjoy.

**Music Starts**

Find yourself a comfortable position to relax in, sitting or laying, the choice is yours.

Adjust your shoulders, adjust your hips.

Allow yourself a moment to become truly comfortable.

Then allow your eyes to softly close.

Jaw to relax.

Bring your attention to your breath.

Becoming aware of the gentle rise and fall of your chest.

The sound of your in breath, the sound of your out breath.

Breathing in, breathing out.

Allowing the stillness to wrap itself around you like a blanket, keeping you safe, keeping you present.

Breathing in and out.

Then begin to imagine you are at the edge of a forest, the trees so tall they go above the clouds.

You observe the colours of the trees, the different shades of brown of the trunks, depending on how much light they have had on them.

You notice a path inviting you to walk in the forest. Drawing you into the adventure of exploring.

You take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Then you take your first step from the edge of the forest onto the path and then another, and another.

As you walk you become amazed by the textures and shapes of the leaves on the trees, the way the light shines on the trees it touches.

The different sizes of the trees, some that must have been here for centuries, others a lot newer to this world. Slowly growing and finding their place in the forest.

Breathing in and breathing out.

You begin to notice the creatures of the forest, the cute and the not so cute.

The ones you pause to observe, the colours of their skin, feathers, scales or fur.

The ones you choose to walk a little faster past, not wishing to observe them for too long.

Breathing in and breathing out.

You begin to notice the sounds of the forest, the rustling of the leaves with the breeze.

The songs of the birds, the sounds of the mammals.

The gentle hum from the insects.

Breathing in and breathing out.

You walk further and further taking in your surroundings, the size of the trees and the creatures that call this environment home, the colours, the sounds, the textures as they reflect in the light.

The vast expanse of the forest.

Then you look down, your feet are on the earth.

The mixture of the detritus, you are no longer on the smooth path.

You wandered so far into the forest you left the path, focusing so much on everything around you, you didn’t notice the direction you were going.

No longer able to tell which direction you should go. Now lost in the forest.

Trees all around you in every direction you look.

For a brief moment you stay with the feeling of being lost.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Observing how this feeling sits in your body.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Then with the vast expanse of the forest around you, you ground yourself with your breath.

Breathing in and breathing out.

With each breath, you observe a tree or creature slowly fade from your mind.

One by one the things in the environment you have been walking through disappear.

Creating space, creating clarity.

Slowly connecting you to the present moment with your breath.

Breathing in, breathing out.

Breath by breath.

The trees fade away revealing the path you have been taking.

You continue to breathe in and out. Noticing the gentleness and deepness of your breath.

No longer aware of the forest that was once around you, just your breath and the quietness of nothing.

Back to the present moment, back to you.

Breathing in, breathing out.

Enjoy two more deep breathes in, two more deep breathes out.

Allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm.

Become aware of how your body rests in place.

Slowly begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes, bringing gentle movement back to your body.

When you are ready, allow your eyes to open.

Thank you for listening.
