Hello and welcome to part 7 of mindfulness @ Christmas.
We are a whole week into December now. How are you holding up so far?
Today we are going to focus on mindfulness while writing. The reason being, we all make ‘to do’ lists. Even more so over the festive period. Decoration ‘to do’ list, Christmas present ‘list’, Christmas food ‘list’ just to name a few.
However we are all to used to writing lists, what would happen if you focused all your attention on creating the list for a few minutes, instead of rushing the list in 30 seconds – because thats the only time you had to write it.
Lets see how being mindful changes your Christmas lists.
No pen or paper required yet (unless you wish to write at the same time – if it allows you to be more focused).
Its time to get comfortable and focus your mind to the present.
***Music starts***
Adjust your body, allow yourself to become comfortable.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Take a moment to let your body relax and your mind calm.
Connect to the gentleness of your breath to soothe your body and mind.
Embrace the stillness for a moment.
Begin to focus your mind on Christmas.
Starting with where you will be spending Christmas day.
Then how you will be getting there or who will be visiting you.
What food you need to buy, the meats, the vegetables, the chocolates.
The christmas crackers, the napkins.
Then the people you wish to buy presents for.
Do any of the presents have to be sent in the post? This is important to be mindful of.
Are you out of wrapping paper and christmas cards? Add them to your list if you need them.
Will you be making any presents for people this year? What things do you need to purchase to make these gifts?
There are so many things to think about for a Christmas list, it can seem overwhelming when you try to create this list in a rush.
Set aside some time today, maybe even listen to this audio again to help focus you as you write. Allow your mind to be open to anything you need to have ready for Christmas.
Once the list is complete. Set it aside and relax, all that information is now out of your head to create space.
Enjoy the space. Maybe even have a hot drink to celebrate your list writing achievements.
Take one more deep breath in, and deep breath out.
Good luck with the Christmas list writing.
Enjoy December 7th.
Thank you for listening.
