Hello and welcome to part 1 of 5 in the second mindful meditation series.
This series focuses on thoughts and ways to bring about awareness, as well as ideas on what to do with the thoughts you are aware of.
Part 1 looks at flow, being able to accept the thoughts you have and let them flow past you, like a river.
So find yourself a comfortable position, be this sitting or laying, the choice is yours.
***Music starts***
Adjust your shoulders, adjust your hips.
Slowly close your eyes.
Become aware of your breath.
Breathe in deeply, breathe out deeply.
Give yourself permission to relax.
Now imagine you are standing by a river.
Watching the water flow, along the river.
You see a small boat at the edge of the river, you go over to the boat and gently climb in.
Making yourself comfortable as you feel the boat begin to move down the river.
Do you notice the speed you float down the river?
The speed you are floating down the river reflects the speed of your mind.
Slowly become aware of the thoughts that are in your mind.
Imagine you are slowly passing by each thought as you float down the river.
Aware of each thought, allowing yourself to go with the flow of your mind and the river.
Allow yourself to enjoy the awareness of your mind.
Maybe you pass by a lot of thoughts as you travel down the river, or maybe the thoughts are spaced out.
Allowing you to enjoy the stillness between the thoughts that arise in your mind.
As you become more connected to the awareness of your thoughts, you may begin to notice themes or the same thought appearing over and over.
Awareness of the same thought, could be your mind trying to tell you something.
Observe every thought as you float down the river.
You enjoy the opportunity to be still in the boat.
To breathe, observe, to go with the flow.
As you travel further down the river, has the river begun to slow?
As you allow yourself to relax deeper into the stillness.
Into the present moment.
Into awareness of your mind right now.
You may notice that letting thoughts pass you by instead of trying to hold onto them, allows your mind to slow more.
You begin to feel the boat slow and notice your boat has reached its destination, a beautiful still lake.
The stillness of the lake reflects the stillness of your body and mind.
So enjoy the stillness of the lake.
How the boat gently floats.
Embracing each breath, allowing yourself to accept the flow of thoughts, enjoying the stillness that follows acceptance.
Anytime you find yourself feeling like you are going against the flow. Breathe deeply and remember the river, how you allowed yourself to go with the flow, relaxed, unforced, to end up with the stillness and calmness.
Because sometimes it is not about solving anything or having the end result, the flow to the destination is equally as important.
Take one more deep breath in, deep breath out.
Allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm.
Gently wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Slowly open your eyes.
Thank you for listening.
