Podcast script: Time out – Serenity

Music credit: Reflections – BORRTEX

Hello and welcome to another relaxation that forms part of the time out series. This relaxation meditation is going to focus on challenging ourselves to sit with our thoughts and feelings.

Most will have heard the famous prayer with the line “grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change”. This forms the theme for this relaxation meditation to hopefully provide you with the serenity to accept thoughts and feelings you might have on a day to day basis.

So find yourself a comfortable position, sitting or laying the choice is yours.

***Music starts***

Adjust your shoulders, adjust your hips.

Allow your body to begin to still in place.

Slowly close your eyes.

Allow your jaw to relax.

Breathe in deeply, breathe out deeply.

Observe how your chest moves as you breathe.

The heaviness of each out breath.

Breathe and be still.

Slowly become aware of how your body feels in this exact moment.

How your body feels from the top of your head all the way to your toes.

Breathe in deeply and as you breathe out say to yourself ‘I accept how my body feels’

Breathe in deeply, breathe out ‘I accept how my body feels’

With each out breath, notice how your body reacts to the acceptance.

How the body feels heavy.

How the body begins to feel calm, relaxed.

Breathe and accept how your body feels in this exact moment.

No need to change anything, to just be, a few moments to yourself with stillness.

Now slowly become aware of how your mind feels in this exact moment.

Take a moment to breathe and observe your thoughts.

Are there many thoughts today, or space between each one.

Breathe in deeply, breathe out and say to yourself ‘I accept the thoughts in my mind’.

Breathe in deeply, breathe out ‘I accept the thoughts in my mind’.

With each out breath, notice how your mind reacts to the acceptance.

Maybe the thoughts become even slower.

Maybe you begin to enjoy the space between the thoughts, the calmness.

Breathe and accept your thoughts in this exact moment.

Reconnect to your in breath and your out breath.

Breathe and enjoy the peacefulness of the body and mind which comes with acceptance.

A rare moment to be completely serene.

Just breathe.

Slowly take one more deep breath in, deep breath out.

Allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm.

Wiggle your fingers and your toes.

When you feel ready, open your eyes.

Begin to bring gentle movement back to your body.

Thank you for listening.
