Podcast script: Darkness

Music credit – Snowflake BORRTEX

Hello and welcome to episode 20 of grounded in stillness.

The 31st of October is Halloween. You will have seen pumpkins and a wide variety of fancy dress options.

However with Halloween focusing on the undead and spooky things it is possible to embrace the darkness to connect you to the present moment.

This relaxation focuses on the gentle darkness that lives behind your eye lids. There is a small change to how this relaxation starts as you will need to keep your eyes open until you are guided to close them.

So make sure you are in a place away from distractions for this one.

When you are ready find yourself a comfortable position to relax in, sitting or laying the choice is yours.

***Music starts***

Adjust your shoulders, adjust your hips.

Allow your body to become comfortable.

Slowly relax the muscles of your face and your jaw.

Then allow your eyes to settle with a gentle gaze.

Become aware of your breath.

Breathe in deeply, breathe out deeply.

Take a moment to observe your breath with the eyes open.

The gentle movement of the chest as you breathe in and breathe out.

The heaviness and stillness of the body as you begin to relax.

Then when you are ready, slowly close your eyes.

Become aware of the darkness you now see.

Allow your eye lids to soften completely.

Notice how the darkness now takes over the vision.

Breathe in, breathe out.

Allow the darkness to take away distractions.

To connect you deeper to the in breath, and the out breath.

To allow your body and mind to fall deeper into stillness.

How the simpleness of the darkness, can allow you a moment to escape from the world.

For you to stop, for you to focus on the emptiness the darkness brings.

For you to take a moment to reset.

So enjoy these moments with darkness.

The space and stillness the darkness brings.

The calmness as you allow the darkness to empty the mind of thoughts.

Breathe in, observe the darkness.

Breathe out, observe the darkness.

Never be afraid of the darkness. Simply allow your breath to take control of those moments in darkness.

The darkness of the unknown and the unknowable.

Gently take one more deep breath in, deep breath out.

Then slowly open your eyes and come back from the darkness.

Allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm.

Gently wiggle your fingers and your toes.

Thank you for listening.
